Doggedly determined and armed with both compassion and a critical eye, documentary filmmaker Suzanne Hillinger turns complex social issues into compelling visual narratives.
After receiving an Emmy Award and contributing to a Pulitzer Prize for her work on The New York Times and Hulu’s THE WEEKLY, Hillinger directed Netflix’s MONEY SHOT: THE PORNHUB STORY where she navigated the controversial terrain of adult content, free speech, and exploitation without sensationalism.
She served as a producer on PBS’s NORMAN LEAR: JUST ANOTHER VERSION OF YOU, and The New Yorker’s Oscar-nominated short documentary, STRANGER AT THE GATE.
Beyond her television and film work, she has produced and directed branded content for clients including Delta Airlines, Dartmouth College, Mellon Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and American Library Association.
With a knack for finding the human thread in thorny stories, Hillinger represents a new generation of documentary filmmakers who understand that the most powerful storytelling happens when you approach charged topics with nuance rather than a megaphone—leaving audiences not just informed, but moved to reconsider their own assumptions.
Suzanne is a proud member of the DGA.
